The TMA Single Pass Grinder is constructed with a sturdy and durable steel housing. The anvils and knives are each precisely machined, which allows replacement of only the worn individual parts.
The complete rotating assembly, including bearing housings, can be removed from the top allowing replacement of the individual cutting discs, thereby reducing down time and maintenance costs.
The TMA Single Pass Grinder is equipped with machined mechanical seals constructed of hardened cast iron rings rather than the traditional stuffing box design. This eliminates retightening of leaking stuffing boxes and results in a cleaner, more contained raw material handling process.

- Hexagonal shaft with cutting discs
- Each cutting disc can be replaced individually
- Each cutting disc has hard faced and machined cut teeth that can be refurbished

- Complete rotating assembly, including bearing housings, can be removed from the top of the stator for maintenance
- All parts are machined for optimal fit with tight tolerances which provides precision cutting
- Equipped with machined mechanical seals to prevent leaking

- The stator parts are welded and then machined individually for precise fit in the bolted assembly
- Anvils are machined individually and bolted to the stator for optimal clearance between the cutting discs
- Strong, shaft mounted planetary gear with dual torque arms transfer
forces directly to the stator base

Facts about the TMA Grinders
- Over 200 units manufactured and installed during the last 30 years
- TMA Grinders currently process over 26,000,000 lbs of raw material per day
- Reduced energy costs resulting from lower HP requirements
- Reduced maintenance and downtime resulting in high production rates and low operating costs
Flexibility in Configuration of Cut Wheels
- The cutting wheel can have one tooth for prebreakers all the way up to six teeth for fine grinders.
- The height of the teeth can be configured to give you the accurate cut size you require.
- The width of the cut wheels can be adjusted to the requirement of your process.
- The spiral design of the cut wheel provide for a smooth operation and low horsepower requirement. For example, on a three tooth single pass machine only two teeth are cutting in the product at the same time.
- The spiral design also allows raw material to fall down between each row of teeth, resulting in a better grip of the product.
- Another benefit to the spiral design is the ability to evenly distribute the raw material across the grinder. Resulting in even utilization of all the cutting wheels.
TMA Grinder Models
The TMA line of grinders can be divided into three subgroups:
- Prebreakers
With a cut size of approximately 2", based on single tooth cut wheel configuration, this machine is designed to handle large carcasses.
- Singlepass
Based on a three or four tooth cut wheel execution with a cut size of 1", this
machine is designed to handle a quarter carcass or less.
- Finegrinder
With a configuration of four or six teeth per cut wheel, this machine is used
after the material has passed through a prebreaker.
